In the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ latest celebration of works by Academy film scholars, Donald Crafton, professor of film, television and theater at the University of Notre Dame, will present highlights from his book Shadow of a Mouse: Performance, Belief, and World-Making in Animation on Wednesday, October 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy’s Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. Crafton will examine clips of classic animated performances from the 1930s and 1940s, and discuss how those performances evolved to meet the changing needs of audiences, artists and studios.
