LOS ANGELES, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces a partnership with Letterboxd, a global social network for film discussion and discovery.  The Academy and Letterboxd will collaborate on exclusive digital content connected to the Oscars®, starting with the Nominees Luncheon and featuring nominees reading the best Letterboxd reviews of their films.  Letterboxd also will host nominees on “The Letterboxd Show” podcast throughout the awards season and present an Oscars-themed series of Showdowns, including the Best Picture Showdown, launched today.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are pleased to announce programming plans during the week leading up to the 95th Oscars® on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Oscar® Week events will debut at the Academy Museum and be open to the public with purchase of same-day general admission. Film screenings will feature all nominated shorts, and panel conversations will feature Academy Award®-nominated filmmakers celebrating this year’s nominees in the Animated Feature Film, Animated Short Film, Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Live Action Short Film, and Makeup and Hairstyling categories. All programs will take place in the museum’s David Geffen Theater. Purchase of general admission to the museum grants access to all same-day Oscar Week screenings and panels. In addition, the Academy Museum will host its second annual Oscars Night at the Museum on March 12 from 3pm to 10pm. Guests, encouraged to dress in their best Hollywood glam looks, will be treated to a one-of-a-kind event at which they will walk the red carpet, savor food by Wolfgang Puck Catering plus a hosted bar, pose for photos, enjoy a 15% discount at the Academy Museum Store, and watch the Oscars ceremony livestream on ABC in the David Geffen Theater.

Emmy® Award-winning late-night talk show host and producer Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the 95th Oscars®, executive producers and showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner announced today. Kimmel hosted back-to-back broadcasts in 2017 (89th Awards) and 2018 (90th Awards). Molly McNearney will also serve as an executive producer. The 95th Oscars will air live on ABC and broadcast outlets worldwide on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tonight honored its student winners from colleges and universities around the world at the 49th Student Academy Awards® ceremony.  The Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal awards were announced and presented during an in-person ceremony, a first since 2019, held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ David Geffen Theater in Los Angeles.  This year, the Student Academy Awards competition received a total of 1,796 entries from 614 colleges and universities around the world.  The 2022 winners join the ranks of such past Student Academy Award® winners as Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Spike Lee, Patricia Riggen and Robert Zemeckis.  Hosted by Terrence Jenkins, the 2022 ceremony is available to view here.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in partnership with Mercury Studios, today announced Peter Edwards and Oleta Haffner as the participants selected for the Jonas Gwangwa Music Composition Initiative, a one-year career development program for Black British musicians interested in composing music for film. Four individuals and one writing team have been selected as winners of the 2022 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting.  Each individual and writing team will receive a $35,000 prize and mentorship from an Academy member throughout their fellowship year.  They also will be featured at the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Awards and Live Read on November 9 at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, where an ensemble of actors will read selected scenes from the winning scripts.  The Nicholl Fellowships was established in 1985 through the support of Gee Nicholl in memory of her husband Don Nicholl.

Karishma Dube and Oleksandra Kostina have been selected to be the domestic and international recipients, respectively, of the 2022 Academy Gold Fellowship for Women.  Part of the Academy Gold global talent development and inclusion initiative, the Fellowship for Women is a one-year program that combines direct support, personalized mentorship and access to once-in-a-lifetime networking opportunities for emerging women filmmakers to further their pursuits in the field.  The Academy currently awards two fellowships annually, one in the U.S. with a prize amount of $35,000 and one internationally in the amount of €20,000.  The fellowship, presented this year in partnership with CHANEL, is now in its fifth year.
