Oscar Week: Documentaries

Hosts: Kate Amend and Roger Ross Williams, Academy governors, Documentary Branch

For the ninth consecutive year, the Academy presented an evening dedicated to showcasing the nominated films and filmmakers in the Documentary Feature and Documentary Short Subject categories. Hosted by Academy Documentary Branch governors Kate Amend (editor of The Long Way Home, Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport and The Case against 8) and Roger Ross Williams (director-producer of the Oscar-winning documentary short Music by Prudence, and the documentary features God Loves Uganda and Life, Animated), the evening included a presentation of clips from this year’s nominated films. Nominees from all 10 documentaries (schedules permitting) participated in panel discussions, reflecting on their nominated films as well as their personal journeys as documentarians.
