Three hundred one feature films are eligible for the 2022 Academy Awards®, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced shortlists in 10 categories for the 95th Academy Awards®: Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound and Visual Effects.

As part of its commitment to reducing its environmental impact and building a legacy of sustainability across its operations, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces a partnership with Red Carpet Green DressTM Global (RCGD Global) to expand its ongoing sustainability efforts. RCGD Global is a women-founded company that promotes sustainability within the entertainment and design worlds. The partnership includes adopting the tenets of RCGD Global’s “Sustainable Style Guide,” which provides guidance on sustainable red-carpet fashion. A bespoke edition of the guide will be distributed in advance to attendees of Academy events this Oscar® season. The bespoke style guide can be viewed here, and an extended version will be released by RCGD Global later this month.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in partnership with CHANEL, hosted the Academy Women’s Luncheon in Los Angeles today (November 16), bringing together women from across the filmmaking community to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women, the Academy’s program to support emerging women filmmakers.

Actors Keiko Agena, Monica Barbaro, Lodric D. Collins and Dorian Missick will appear in a live reading of selected scenes from this year’s five winning scripts at the 2022 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Awards and Live Read on November 9 at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The program will be hosted and directed by 2013 Nicholl fellow Barbara Stepansky.

Emmy® Award-winning late-night talk show host and producer Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the 95th Oscars®, executive producers and showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner announced today. Kimmel hosted back-to-back broadcasts in 2017 (89th Awards) and 2018 (90th Awards). Molly McNearney will also serve as an executive producer. The 95th Oscars will air live on ABC and broadcast outlets worldwide on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

Paul Cameron, Paul Debevec, Tom Duffield and Marlon West have accepted invitations to join the Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tonight honored its student winners from colleges and universities around the world at the 49th Student Academy Awards® ceremony. The Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal awards were announced and presented during an in-person ceremony, a first since 2019, held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ David Geffen Theater in Los Angeles. This year, the Student Academy Awards competition received a total of 1,796 entries from 614 colleges and universities around the world. The 2022 winners join the ranks of such past Student Academy Award® winners as Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Spike Lee, Patricia Riggen and Robert Zemeckis.
