The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced details about its fourth annual Global Movie Day on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Global Movie Day is a day for film fans worldwide to celebrate their favorite movies and engage with Academy members and filmmakers on social media all day.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that 13 distinct scientific and technical investigations have been launched for 2022.
In the week leading up to the 94th Oscars®, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a series of public programs celebrating this year’s nominees in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Animated and Live Action Short Film categories. All events will be held at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced the 12th Governors Awards will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland® in Hollywood. Honorary Awards will be presented to Samuel L. Jackson, Elaine May and Liv Ullmann, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will be presented to Danny Glover. Originally slated for January 15, 2022, the rescheduled event, produced by Jennifer Fox, will be scaled down in size.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today launched “Seen,” a new interview series that follows Argentinean-American journalist, director, writer and producer Nick Barili as he sits down for one-on-one conversations with some of the film industry’s most influential artists and filmmakers with Latin-American and Spanish roots. In the first season, Academy members John Leguizamo, Eva Longoria and Edward James Olmos share their personal journeys, exploring how their crafts and culture play a role in breaking down barriers in filmmaking.
