ACADEMY BOARD OF GOVERNORS 2020-2021 OFFICERS ELECTED


Casting director David Rubin was re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today by the organization’s Board of Governors.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors voted to reclassify the membership status of Artists’ Representatives (agents) from Associates to Members-at-Large.  As Members-at-Large, agents will now have voting privileges.

The Academy is comprised of 17 branches, for the crafts ranging from Actors to Writers, and two membership status categories, Members-at-Large and Associates, to accommodate individuals whose work in the motion picture industry is not specific to one of the branches.

THE ACADEMY FOUNDATION’S GRANTS PROGRAM
TO RECEIVE $2 MILLION EACH

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today a $6 million donation that will help support motion picture employees and their families facing severe financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with institutions focused on supporting diverse filmmakers.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that CEO Dawn Hudson will continue in her role through May 2023.

Hudson, who joined the Academy as CEO in 2011, will continue to oversee all aspects of the Academy and its 430 employees in Los Angeles, New York and London.  As CEO, Hudson collaborates closely with show producers and ABC on the production of the Oscars and also oversees the ongoing development of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which opens December 14 of this year, and serves on its Board of Trustees.
