The Steve McQueen-Neile Adams Collection contains 67 items and consists of the actor’s personal prints of several of his feature films and home movies dating from 1950 to 1976. The collection’s personal prints includes 16mm prints of “The Great Escape” (1963), “Bullitt” (1968), “Papillon” (1973) and “The Towering Inferno” (1974), two 35mm prints of “An Enemy of the People” (1978), and over twenty 16mm and 35mm prints of the motorcycle racing documentary “On Any Sunday” (1971), co-produced by McQueen’s Solar Productions. Actress-singer-dancer Neile Adams, who was married to McQueen from 1956 to 1972, shot much of the home movie footage. The 22 reels of home movies in the collection feature the couple and their two children engaged in family activities, McQueen driving race cars, and a few minutes filmed on location during production of “The Thomas Crown Affair” (1968).
