The iotaCenter Collection contains abstract film and animation from West Coast experimental filmmakers, including Hy Hirsh, Jane Conger Belson Shimané, Patricia Marx, Jules Engel, and Ed Emshwiller, just to name a very few. The iotaCenter first deposited material in the archive in 1997, and the collection has grown steadily since then, now containing more than 2,400 items, the bulk of which are 16mm film elements. Several of the titles in this collection have been preserved by the Academy, such as “Prelude” (1950), “Obmaru” (1953), “Logos” (1957), and “Flesh Flows (1974). A full listing of titles preserved by the Archive within this collection can be found on our Preserved Projects webpage.
