Gary Beydler Collection

The collection of Gary Beydler (1944-2010) began to arrive at the Archive in 2007, and is composed of the complete originals and projection prints for his six experimental shorts, other super 8mm and 16mm tests, art performance documentation, and early film sketches created prior to his first completed films in 1974. One discovery of the collection was Beydler’s final film, the 16-minute “Venice Pier” (1976), almost entirely unseen since its making. Also included are his two signature films, “Pasadena Freeway Stills” (1974) and “Hand Held Day” (1975).
