The Academy Film Archive holds a small but significant collection of materials that were produced by the Danish Film Institute. The Archive worked closely with Thomas Christensen, curator of the DFI’s Archive and Cinematheque, to acquire copies of Danish films preserved or restored by the DFI. In 2007 the Academy acquired a 35mm print of Carl Theodor Dreyer’s restored “The Passion of Joan of Arc,” which was newly subtitled in English. In 2013, the Archive acquired digital masters of the 1956 Documentary Feature nominee “Where Mountains Float” and the 1960 Documentary Short nominee “A City Called Copenhagen.” Finally, the collection also contains DVDs published by the DFI, including “The First Film Archive,” containing the first seventy films donated to the Danish State.
