AFA Collection - Charles Guggenheim Collection

Charles Guggenheim (1924-2002) was the most honored documentary filmmaker in Academy history, having received twelve Academy Award nominations and winning four Oscars. In 2004, the Archive acquired the vast majority of Guggenheim’s collection. This acquisition totals over 4,000 items and includes prints of most of his films, as well as original negatives, outtakes, and production materials.

The film material at the Academy Film Archive is complemented by material in the Charles Guggenheim papers at the Academy’s Margaret Herrick Library.
