Alee Peoples is a multimedia artist whose work focuses on text, pattern, and forms of visual communication. Peoples’ work has been shown at Ann Arbor Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives, REDCAT Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater, and Brooklyn Museum of Art. The Archive’s collection includes prints of “Them Oracles” (2012), that highlights the way Peoples’ signature hand-made aesthetics transforms everyday objects into humorous abstract narratives. Since 2017, the Archive has housed almost 30 items related to Alee Peoples including “Decoy” (2017), “Non-Stop Beautiful Ladies” (2015), and “Spotlight on a Brick Wall” (2016), which is a collaboration with multimedia artist Mike Stoltz whose collection is also at the Archive. The collaboration sonically showcases the strong sound design and lyrical pop influence in Peoples’ work.
