STORYWORKS: THE OVERNIGHTERS

An original storytelling experience exploring the intersection of documentary film, investigative journalism and live performance.

In collaboration with the International Documentary Association, the Academy presents StoryWorks from the Center for Investigative Reporting and its multimedia platform, Reveal. StoryWorks merges investigative journalism with live theater to change the way we experience journalism.

This new live workshop production will present a behind-the-scenes look at Jesse Moss’s film The Overnighters, the investigative reporting work of Reveal on the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota, while exploring the story left on the cutting room floor through the unique lens of multimedia performance. Directed by Jennifer Welch and written by Jon Bernson, the production is based on reporting by Jennifer Gollan and on the work of filmmaker Jesse Moss.
