UK 1999, directed by Lynne Ramsay, 94 minutes
Set in a Glasgow tenement block in the 1970s, against a backdrop of rubbish accumulating during a binmen’s strike, the film follows twelve-year-old James Gillespie as tragedy causes him to withdraw from his family.
Following this screening, three-time Oscar nominee Rachel Portman, one of the UK’s most successful screen composers, discussed her evocative music for Lynne Ramsay’s Ratcatcher. The event was moderated by the Oscar-nominated composer for Mr. Turner, Gary Yershon.
