Three-time Academy Award nominee Danny Boyle won an Oscar for his direction of Best Picture winner "Slumdog Millionaire" in 2008. On Thursday, April 4, the Academy will screen Boyle’s feature film debut, "Shallow Grave."

A tight little thriller set in Edinburgh, Scotland, the film brings together three flatmates who find a fourth roommate dead from an overdose in his bedroom. The story takes a startling turn when they discover a suitcase full of cash, decide to keep it and dispose of the body. Written by doctor-turned-screenwriter John Hodge, who also authored the Oscar-nominated screenplay for "Trainspotting," "Shallow Grave" stars Kerry Fox and Christopher Eccleston. Ewan McGregor also has his first feature film starring role as one of the unsavory tenants. "Shallow Grave" was produced by Andrew Macdonald, who went on to produce five more feature films directed by Boyle.

A festival favorite in 1994 and a critical smash when it was released theatrically in 1995, "Shallow Grave" introduced its makers and stars to a worldwide audience before becoming a cult classic. The Academy screened a rare print provided by Park Circus LLC.
