Co-hosted by actress CCH Pounder (Avatar) and Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor John Nelson (Gladiator and Blade Runner 2049), this special program offers an eye-opening, behind-the-scenes tour through the collaborative and rapidly evolving world of performance capture.

Performance capture extends the traditions of cinematic storytelling by combining animation, visual effects and live performance to create seamless, lifelike, utterly unique on-screen characters. The evening included case studies, film clips and expert discussion on the artistic and technological developments in performance capture that are sure to influence cinematic performances in 2018 and beyond.

Special guests included actor Karin Konoval, who portrayed Maurice in the Planet of the Apes films, John Knoll, senior visual effects supervisor, visual effects supervisors Dan Lemmon, Richard Clegg and Darren Hendler, Matt Shumway, animation supervisor and senior director of software R&D Doug Roble.
