The Academy exhibition "Fifty Designers/Fifty Costumes: Concept to Character" was presented in the Academy Galleries between September and December, 2004 and has since traveled to the Design Exchange in Toronto as part of an international tour.

The accompanying catalogue is a 125-page soft-cover, 9"x10" horizontal publication, containing a full-color cover, a commentary from and filmography for each exhibiting designer, full-color photographs of each costume on display as worn by the actor and the accompanying costume sketch, a forward by Jeffrey Kurland, Academy Governor representing costume designers, an introductory essay by Costume Designers Guild President Deborah Nadoolman Landis (both of whom served on the curatorial committee for this exhibition), and a complete index. The catalogue was designed by Jaeger Smith.
