Using the Library
A valid photo i.d. such as a driver's license or passport is required for entrance to the library. When you visit the library, you will be asked to complete a library use application. You will be issued a library user's card that is good for the day.
Personal belongings such as briefcases, purses and backpacks are not permitted in the library; storage lockers are provided in the lobby area. Only items essential to your research, such as a notepad, or laptop computer, may be brought into the Reading Room. Patrons are asked to use pencils only when working in the library. Researchers may bring their own pencils or use the ones provided by the library. Items are subject to inspection by library staff when you enter and leave the Reading Room. Cell phones are not permitted in the Reading Room.
The library's collection is non-circulating and for onsite reference use only. Materials may not be checked out of the building and there is no Inter-Library Loan (ILL). (Except as noted in the catalog, items in the book, periodical and general script collections are available upon request in the library, as are the clipping files and photographs in the general collection.)
Limited photocopying and photographic reproduction services are available onsite, depending on the condition of the material or other restrictions that may apply. Photocopying is done by library staff at a charge of 25 cents per page with a maximum of twenty pages per person per day. Unpublished screenplays may not be photocopied under any circumstances.
Materials in special manuscript and photographic collections are available to qualified researchers by prior appointment only. For more information, please see Special Collections.
Materials from the library's collections are sometimes loaned for exhibition at museums and other recognized institutions. For more information, please refer to the Academy's Library Loaning Policy.
Hours
The library is open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week. Hours are
10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m Tuesdays.
Services such as retrieving materials and photocopying stop half an hour before closing time. The library is closed Wednesdays and weekends.

Location and Parking
The Margaret Herrick Library is housed in the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study, at 333 S. La Cienega Boulevard, Beverly Hills, California 90211. The building is located just north of Olympic Boulevard, on the west side of La Cienega.
Public parking is available in the City of Beverly Hills public parking structure just north of the Fairbanks Center building. Parking is free for the first two hours. Metered parking can also be found on streets to the north and west of the building.
Map and Directions
From 10 Freeway Westbound & Eastbound:
Exit at La Cienega Boulevard-North and proceed north on La Cienega. Turn left at Olympic Boulevard and make an immediate right at the first street, Le Doux. Continue on Le Doux to Gregory Way. Turn right on Gregory Way and then right on La Cienega and proceed to the first driveway to enter the parking structure.
From 405 Freeway Southbound & Northbound:
Take the 405 South or 405 North to the 10 East. Exit at La Cienega Boulevard and proceed north. (Follow same directions as above).
Via surface streets:
From the westside take Wilshire Boulevard east to La Cienega. Turn right at La Cienega and proceed one and a half blocks to the public parking structure.
From the eastside take Wilshire Boulevard west to La Cienega. Turn left at La Cienega and proceed one and a half blocks to the public parking structure.
From the valley take Laurel Canyon Boulevard to Sunset Boulevard. Turn right on Sunset and proceed west to La Cienega. Take La Cienega south. The public parking structure is one and a half blocks south of Wilshire Boulevard.
