Filmmaker Samuel Fuller (1912-1997) was uncompromising when taking on forbidden subjects in films such as “The Steel Helmet” (1951) and “The Crimson Kimono” (1959). A former newspaperman, Fuller documented World War II from the ground with his 16mm camera while serving in the 1st Infantry Division (the Big Red One) and was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Purple Heart for his service. The collection includes roughly 100 reels of home movies and behind-the-scenes footage, covering his time in the Army to his later years as a seasoned filmmaker.
