“City Beneath the Sea” trailer (1953)

The Academy Film Archive is home to the Packard Humanities Institute Collection, the largest known collection of theatrical trailers on film. The collection was originally collected, curated, and operated for twenty years by Los Angeles-based film collector Jeff Joseph as the SabuCat Productions Archive. Processing of this massive collection consisting of over 60,000 coming attractions began at the Academy in January 2010. Numerous advertisements, theatrical snipes, film excerpts, television spots, and public service announcements are included in the acquisition. Material formats range from acetate and polyester 35mm and 16mm prints, as well as a variety of videotape formats ranging from 3/4" to Digital Betacam.
