American writer-director John Landis has been active in the film industry since the 1970s, finding success as a director with several different genres, including comedy and horror, and as an actor in dozens of movies. The bulk of the John Landis Collection was deposited at the Archive in June 2000, with additional elements arriving in 2010 and 2012. Comprised of 81 items, the collection includes prints, trailers, trims, and other miscellaneous material representing over 15 titles spanning the length of Landis’s career. Included are materials from his directorial debut, “Schlock” (1973), and signature films such as “National Lampoon’s Animal House” (1978), “The Blues Brothers” (1980), “An American Werewolf in London” (1981), and “¡Three Amigos!” (1986), as well as the landmark music video for Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (1983).
