The Frédéric Back collection contains 35mm prints of animated titles directed by master animator Frédéric Back. In 2012, the Archive acquired new 35mm prints of many of his works, all created with Back’s personal supervision. The titles include “Abracadabra” (1970), “Taratata” (1977), and “¿Illusion?” (1975); the Academy Award nominees “All Nothing” (1980) and “The Mighty River” (1993); and “Crac” which won the 1981 Academy Award for Animated Short Film. In addition, the collection contains the film and digital masters from the Academy’s 4K restoration of the Academy Award-winning “The Man Who Planted Trees” (1987), including both the English and French language versions.
